One of the most powerful tools human beings have to effect change in this world is our voice. At Cincinnati Children's, we've seen what speaking up can do to improve safety and the delivery of care.

We also value having a diversity of voices to ensure that we get the widest and deepest range of perspectives to inform our decisions.

Two stories in this issue highlight the importance of using our voices to bring about gender equity in the workplace and to advocate for patients and families. Hopefully, you'll come away from reading them with an appreciation for these advocates' level of passion for their work.

Speaking of passion for work, learn more about what Pharmacy is doing to improve medication reconciliation to eliminate errors that could lead to patient harm.

Then, get to know Tony Johnston, our new chief information officer and senior vice president of Information Services, and why his predecessor, Marianne James, is leaving us in good hands.

If you want more inspiration, read about Alan Jobe, MD, PhD, whose research and teaching have transformed countless lives.

And finally, check out the video about a program that aims to identify and help mothers who suffer from depression.

If you've missed previous issues of Inspire, you can find them in our archives.
